If your pupper sheds excessively, it might be a matter of concern. It could simply be because it's dog shedding season or it could be as serious as a health problem like mange or cancer. Whatever the reason is, here are 5 simple ways to keep his coat healthy and to minimize shedding:
Clean, Fresh Water
Dry skin is one of the main causes of excessive shedding in canines. Make sure that your dog stays hydrated and has access to fresh water at all times.
Fish oil is not only beneficial for us but for our furry friends, too! It contains a good amount of Omega-3 and Omega-6 fatty acids which are proven to promote healthy skin and a glistening coat in dogs.
If your pet is suffering from skin allergy or itchiness, oatmeal would be a great remedy! Fill a bath with warm water mixed with a cup of colloidal oatmeal powder and let your doggie soak for 5 to 10 minutes.
Another healthy and yummy snack that can help remedy your pet's shedding is yogurt. Give a small amount of plain yogurt to your dog as a snack - this helps prevent yeast infection which worsens shedding.
Vinegar is known to effectively treat plenty of dog skin problems that cause shedding like dandruff and yeast infection.
